“His Father’s Son” is the twenty-third episode of Season 5 of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, aired on May 10, 1997. Written by Carl Binder and directed by Jerry London, it’s the 116th episode of the series. In this episode, Sully struggles with his role as Brian’s father figure, allowing Dr. Mike to set rules, which leads to Brian’s misbehavior with friend Anthony. Sully eventually recognizes Brian’s need for paternal guidance. Meanwhile, Brian, jealous of his sister Katie, acts out after receiving a letter from his biological father, Ethan, causing mischief like starting a fire and getting injured while hopping a train to Mannitu. Dr. Mike confronts Andrew over unethical practices at Preston’s hotel, where the American Medical Society holds a convention.
